Bob Charles among youngest candidates nationwide vying to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives

WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 13, 2010) – The Macsata-Kornegay Group, Inc. (TMKG) today announced that it has been retained by the “Charles for Congress” campaign committee.  Bob Charles announced his candidacy for Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District on March 16th – making him the youngest candidate in the Republican primary for the seat being vacated by Rep. John Shadegg and among the youngest vying for the U.S. House of Representatives nationwide during this midterm election cycle.

“We’re honored to have been tapped by a candidate as energetic and inspiring as Bob Charles,” said TMKG’s Partner, Amanda E. Kornegay.  “In just a few short weeks, Bob’s campaign – including the main tenant of his campaign, ‘I Demand a Refund!’ – has energized the conservative base of the Republican Party, as well as generated significant interest among younger voters and independent voters who are eager for a ‘fresh’ face in Washington.”  

According to CQ Politics, Shadegg’s decision not to seek re-election this year set off a free-for-all among Phoenix-area Republicans who have interest in running for the open seat in the 3rd District, which typically votes heavily Republican.  Arizona Sen. John McCain carried the district’s presidential vote by 56 percent to 42 percent vote over Democrat Barack Obama.

“With 58% of voters nationwide saying Congress is performing poorly, Arizona-3 is poised to tip the scales of power in November,” Bob Charles stated.  “The Macsata-Kornegay Group has the experience and expertise to shape my campaign with its political messaging and fundraising.  Their addition to my campaign demonstrates my commitment to winning the primary on August 24th!”

Upon announcing his candidacy, Charles made the following statement: “I am not a career politician, but I am a third generation Arizonan who is pro-business, pro-capitalism, and pro-commerce.  With April 15th – Tax Day – just around the corner, I wanted to share with you the main tenant of my campaign, which is “I Demand A Refund.”  I want to put your money back in your pocket because our politicians have proven their inability to be good stewards of our tax dollars.  Government spending is growing at an alarming rate and we’re getting stuck paying the tab.  I am asking you to send me to Congress!!!  Arizonans live by the simple rule that you cannot spend more than you earn – so isn’t it time for our federal government to be reminded that the same rule applies to Congress.”
